  • 3-Wheel Mobility Scooters

    3-Wheel Mobility Scooters

3-wheel mobility scooters have one front wheel and two rear wheels. This design decreases the turning radius of the scooter allowing it to move easily indoors in your home or at the store. However, 3-wheel scooters are not as stable as 4-wheel scooters. 3-wheel mobility scooters from all manufacturers are listed here.
  • 4-Wheel Mobility Scooters

    4-Wheel Mobility Scooters

4-wheel mobility scooters have two front wheels and two rear wheels. This design gives them extra stability over a variety of surfaces. Some 4-wheel mobility scooters have a hybrid design that places the front wheels close together giving users a good mix of stability and maneuverability. Whatever the design, 4-wheel scooters are more difficult to use indoors compared to 3-wheel scooters because of their larger turning radii. 4-wheel mobility scooters from all manufacturers are listed here.
  • Heavy-Duty Mobility Scooters

    Heavy-Duty Mobility Scooters

Heavy-duty mobility scooters are bigger and stronger than the average scooter and feature weight capacities of up to 500 pounds and extra-large seats. Because of their large size, heavy-duty models are more difficult to use indoors and require larger lifts or carriers for transport by vehicle. Heavy-duty mobility scooters from all manufacturers are listed here.
  • Travel Mobility Scooters

    Travel Mobility Scooters

Travel mobility scooters are designed for convenience as you travel. Features of travel mobility scooters include lightweight frames, easy-to-separate components, interchangeable quick-change battery packs, and smaller turning radii for increased maneuverability. However, travel mobility scooters will not travel as far and usually have lower weight capacities compared to other mobility scooters. Travel mobility scooters from all manufacturers are listed here.

Mobility Scooter Overview

4 Medical Supplies carries electric mobility scooters from AmeriGlide, Pride, and Golden. We offer 3-Wheel Mobility Scooters, 4-Wheel Mobility Scooters, Heavy-Duty Mobility Scooters, and Travel Mobility Scooters.

An electric mobility scooter is a mobility aid similar to a wheelchair but configured like a motor scooter. It is often referred to as a mobility scooter or electric scooter as well.

An electric scooter has a seat over two rear wheels, a flat area for the feet, and handlebars in front to turn one or two steerable wheels. The scooter seat may swivel to allow access when the front is blocked by the handlebars. Mobility scooters are usually battery powered. A battery or two is stored on board the scooter and is charged via an onboard or separate battery charger unit from standard electric power.

Electric scooters provide important advantages to people with mobility problems throughout the world. A mobility scooter is useful for persons without the stamina or arm/shoulder flexibility necessary to use a manual wheelchair. Also, swiveling the seat of an electric scooter is generally easier than moving the foot supports on most conventional wheelchairs. A mobility scooter is very helpful for persons with systemic or whole-body disabling conditions (coronary or lung issues, some forms of arthritis, obesity, etc.) who are still able to stand and walk a few steps, sit upright without torso support, and control the steering tiller.

A major selling point of mobility scooters for many users is that they do not look like a wheelchair, which symbolizes disability to many. Electric scooters are generally more affordable than powered wheelchairs, leading to them being procured as a cheaper alternative.
